Stanley Meltzoff Art and Illusion is expressed through his through his self portrait, Manfish under Moonlight. He saw himself as this striped bass, and he hung this painting in his studio for decades. It reflects his concern for  pollution becoming the primordial ooze and the loss of life in the ocean which is our last natural wilderness.
